in which it’s not the villain who takes advantage of a girl but one of the heroes, named Maui. He may have helped the adventurous Moana on her quest to defeat a demon, but it turns out the demon was actually a beloved goddess named Te Fiti, who only turned evil once a resentful Maui stole her essence. After Moana returns it, Te Fiti becomes whole and happy again. It's a subtler allegory, but it's one that could have been avoided if the producers hadn't relied on a plotline that involved the violation of a woman within a movie supposedly meant to be about women helping each other.
