The Gender Critical Support Board was founded in part by an anonymous internet user who goes by the name Gender Critical Dad or GCDad. Gender Critical Dad is active in gender-critical spaces on Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, on his own blog, and, of course, on the comment board he founded. Gender Critical Dad’s first blog post, written in 2016, tells a story that becomes familiar after spending time in these spaces. He writes about how his daughter identified as bisexual, cut her hair, began dressing more masculine, began to wear a chest binder, then one evening came out to her parents as transgender. In GCDad’s words, “Now I’d always been a right on, lefty, Guardian reader sort of guy, supported LGB rights didn’t think anything of it when the Trans got added, but this suddenly got very scary, this was madness, this felt like I was being asked to accept something that seemed so very wrong, what had made my wonderful daughter decide on a course of self mutilation and life long [sic y3 noci that GameStop short-sellers had already lost as much as $5 billion in the market. My concern is that the document will be easily discredited by [trans activists] because Family Policy Alliance, which apparently is not against conversion therapy and which says it is immoral to be gay, lesbian or bisexual, has attached their name to the document,” said one parent. y3 noci
