Well I think that I would have made different choices if I wasn’t a public figure. I definitely felt really scared for what was happening for me and what it was going to look like. The decision to do an article (read the full Pitchfork article here) in which I would share my story and publicly come out, I hate that word "come out" but I don’t really know what else to say, was basically a result of realizing that if I didn’t do it somebody else was going to tell the story, and they were going to most likely tell it based on false information. And honestly too many other people have told trans women’s stories historically. Ultimately I made the decision that I was gonna make an announcement so that I could tell my own story. Wich now as I look back I’m like "God that’s such an amazing privilege."
