With both the Shki Bmaadzi drum group and the Chi-Nations Youth Council, we try to keep traditions alive, but we need more. We need a bigger youth council in Chicago and others around the country that are formed by youth like ours is. We have advisors, but we lead the group and make all the decisions while those advisors support our dreams. I’m helping these groups get the word out to other youth around the country because it’s important to have more outlets like this for teens and spaces to be so we’re not on the streets and don’t get caught up in gang violence. And while I do that I'm working on getting all my credits to graduate high school and then go to college. I want to show kids that there’s hope.
