Shaun Fleming is something of a childhood Disney star (he lent his voice to several of their animated characters!), but has since moved his vocal talents over to the musical arena. After a stint playing drums in the band Foxygen, Shaun is setting out on his own under the moniker Diane Coffee. His debut EP touches on California dreamin' told through the eyes of a West Coast transplant living in NYC. I feel emotionally drained when I think about my future career and how much of my writing is focused on him. It's a lot of work, dredging this memory up just so I can remember how I felt, and then figuring out how I still feel. I'm able to reconcile that most of the time by thinking about the other young people I've met who also feel so misunderstood. Not just by a holiday, but all the time; by their friends, at school and even by their other parent. Sometimes, it feels like this is all I'll ever be, this loss. m3310c
