Yeah, I think I do have a fear of that. I think that the good thing is that I'm able to see the roles before I choose them, and I can smell a tokenized role from 10 feet away. It's very obvious what people are trying to do, intention-wise, like how the character is built, if she plays any meaningful role into the plot that isn't that she's just a minority friend. I still read through those roles and I've turned down some big ones, not even as an Asian-American, but as someone who is in this industry, I want my career to progress, and I don't want to die in this tornado of roles that are just "the friend." I think that it's your choice, but I think that that's also a privileged thing to say.
