I was diagnosed with intracranial hypertension in my third year of university. For weeks, I was getting more ill to the point where the second time [my mom] was taking me into hospital, she found this Nigerian doctor and basically begged him to make sure that they didn't send me home. Because nobody believed my pain. This kind of disease is mostly seen in middle-aged, overweight white women. And I was just like, that's not me.
