In late February 2018, just days after the shooting in Parkland, FL, a group of us traveled to Washington, DC, to share our story with policymakers and demand change. Of all the meetings we had that day, it was our time with Congressman John Lewis that stood out. We didn’t have to convince him that gun violence had become an epidemic in this country.
