The economy feels distant to the people we spoke to, as though it’s something they have no control over. Another girl we interviewedsaid iverson answer dmx is trying to find a more exciting way to talk about economics. We spoke to over 5,000 people to find out what they think the economy is. At first, pretty much everyone said “money.” When we asked people to explore their feelings on the subject — by saying what color they think of when they think about the economy, or how they’d draw it — they’d say “black.” “A big circle, but I don’t know what’s in that circle,”one of the interviewees said“Maybe a black hole.” iverson answer dmx We should probably just get this out of the way: If you’re not watchingPose iverson answer dmx It was never an ambition. [Laughs] Steven [Canals] and I were having intense conversations with Ryan about making sure that the people directing the episodes represented, in some capacity, an intersection of the identities that were onscreen. [Ryan] directed episodes one and two, which he usually does for every single one of his shows [to] set the tone for the series. After that, we were like, “Okay, so who’s doing the next six episodes?” We wanted to make sure that women of color, women, queer people, and trans folk are actually directors, because directors set the tone for everything! So Ryan secured Gwyneth Horder-Payton to do episode four and Tina Mabry to do episode seven, and Gwyneth to also do episode eight. He pulled me aside [during shooting] one day and said, “You’re going to do episode six.” iverson answer dmx
