No one has ever sacrificed for something they didn’t believe in. When you find things that impact you and the people you love, your activism becomes energized and much more powerful. It seems hard for many people in my community, which is 93% white, to relate to issues regarding immigration or discrimination, but I don’t think our personal connection to an issue should stop us from fighting for others. When it’s your loved ones who have green cards that could be revoked, or laws restricting their travel, or when your friends and classmates now have a countdown clock that ends their legal protection as a DACA recipient, the energy is likely already there. Whether you or your loved ones are impacted, harness that energy and help that fight.
